MYSTERY OF THE FRUIT OF KNOWLEDGE

The tree in Genesis foreshadowed the knowledge of good and evil that God would come to reveal through His Holy Scriptures. The Old Testament teaches readers knowledge of good and evil as well as the consequences of trespassing against the Law. The story of Adam and Eve eating fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, which was with them in the garden (i.e., the paradise region of Southern Mesopotamia), suggests that God gives us a warning of how we must approach His Word. If we prematurely consume of God’s knowledge of good and evil rather than first heeding His instructions for life, we may find that we, too, have trespassed as Adam and Eve. God wants to share His perfect and superior knowledge with His children at His appointed times, but putting our own limited knowledge and comprehension before spiritual wisdom, obedience, and instructions for life is an invitation to darkness and, at the final judgment, spiritual death.
The Hebrews of old knew that a covenant cuts both ways, and if they did not obey the LORD’s instructions, the sword of His Word would be turned upon them. Those who eat of the fruit of the Law are subject to the curse of breaking the Law, which is death. Every commandment (mitzvah) of God is Torah– Law, Instruction. Being under the Law, a curse of death comes to those not keeping it (cf. Deut. 27:26; Gal. 3:10-14). When God said, “…but of the tree of knowledge, you shall not eat…” it was His Instruction, His Word, and His Law for Adam and Eve. God’s first commandment concerned the knowledge of good and evil (fruits of the tree), and, again, breaking it meant the curse of death. All scriptural themes of redemption began with the original curse of a tree, since how we approach and handle knowledge within our reach is the first lesson of life.
The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil was not, and is not, something corrupt or evil in and of itself. It was only when the legendary couple prematurely partook of it, in rebellion against God, that the forbidden fruit cursed them. Knowledge consumed in naïve rebellion, be it scriptural or secular knowledge, is an invitation to death.
The death we are herein concerned with has greater future implications- concerning the works of God- than loss of mere mortal life. Without Divine knowledge there are no trespasses that require human accountability to God, so the first lesson of Scripture is that when we do know better, yet we lean upon our own reasoning against Him, we are also accursed. (NB: Ignorance did not bring nuclear and biological weapons into the world, which are a very real threat to life on Earth, but they came by some scientists who lacked all wisdom and respect for God and the natural world in which He created.)
None of the parallels and correlations of symbols within this article are written to imply that the Genesis tree of knowledge was not something corporeal, as a true, tangible tree, rather correlations are explored herein to explain prophetic and foreshadowing symbolism behind the literal tree. We learn more from Scriptures when we try not to think in exclusionary terms of either-this-or-that but rather connect the earthly things revealed in Scriptures with their spiritual and prophetic counterparts, as so designed by God.
Hidden within the shadow of the tree of the Law is the Key of Knowledge (the Aleph), and the key is that 1 day to the LORD is like 1,000 years for us. It comes first because it is necessary to unlock the House (Beth) of Divine wisdom and all truths that follow thereafter in the enigmatic message of the Hebrew alphabet. Aleph (Greek Alpha) means first and teach or, simply put, the first teaching of knowledge. For Jews, the letter Aleph numerically represents 1 becoming 1,000 and God being the Head or First of all knowledge taught (hence, the Ox head symbol). In short, Aleph suggests that the beginning of all knowledge and the Word was with God, and that we should first learn and teach from Him that 1 becomes 1,000. This alphanumerical truth is more than important for those who wish to discern the panoramic picture of God’s redemptive works in our world, it is indeed necessary to discern and reconstruct the framework of time behind all of His revealed works.
DECEIVED BY TWISTED KNOWLEDGE OF TIME
This was the fruit that was at first hidden from Adam and Eve: involving greater knowledge of time. This ancient key concerns the first commandment given in Scriptures from God to mankind- the biblical beginning in which we are made aware of. The appointed times of God’s Law- His instructions- were reserved for the Father and were, in the beginning, forbidden from being prematurely taught to humankind. They, Adam and Eve, were to dwell patiently by faith as God taught them, not gain knowledge to challenge God in an attempt to become gods. God would teach them about nature and the times, in time, but they “jumped the gun” to reach their own simple conclusions, apart from Him teaching them. (What I am getting at will all soon make perfect sense.)
It is not revealed whether Adam and Eve knew that God created their world in six days (a day being what God decides), but it is evident that what they were not told is that God’s days are not the literal days of humankind. This hidden knowledge presented an opportunity for Satan to beguile them, and he did so in a way in which a claim could be made that he had not actually lied to them. For this reason, after the transgression, Eve (Chavah) said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate” rather than he lied to her. Satan had to take that one law and twist it to bring about disobedience from Adam and Eve: “On the day you eat, dying you will surely die.” The enemy of adamkind was a liar, thief, and indeed a murderer from the beginning, as taught by Christ, but he killed them by subtly twisting God’s Word so that Adam and Eve would break the first commandment given to them.
God was the One who created them and gave them a dwelling place. They were to have no gods before Him- not themselves with their knowledge and especially not the serpent that twists God’s words with temptation. The first of the Ten Commandments did not begin with Moses, but it was in essence taught to Adam and Eve. And they rebelled against it with the spirit of adversity, under the premise that God’s promise of them dying within a “day” was false.
It was a “day” that they did not comprehend. The knowledge of His millennial days was hidden from them, and still there are even greater lengths of Divine days that are hidden from those who challenge the validity of God’s Word. (Read Prophetic Genesis Theory, New Genesis Theory, and ATLAS Theory to learn the panoramic paradigm.)
NB: The first commandment is one of ten to suggest a period of time for completing Old Testament law. When we find that the hidden knowledge corresponds to the first commandment, Aleph, we can then correlate ten millenniums to each of them, which, from the beginning of Genesis, lead to the cross. In other words, all laws are embodied in the Ten Commandments, and Messiah embodied the whole Law, as the manifest Word of God, at ten thousand years from the beginning of Genesis to the cross. First teach that one becomes one thousand.
Fruit, in Scripture, symbolizes more than sustenance for physical nourishment; it is often metaphorically expressive of teachings: the produce of our deeds and words. Hence, every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and cast in the fire.
Satan’s words and deeds, via the possessed serpent, tricked Eve, for he was, according to Scripture, the most cunning and “subtle” of all the creatures in which the Lord YHVH had made. Possessed by the evil spirit (our adversary), the clever serpent tempted with hidden knowledge of God’s greater “day,” seeking to destroy them, and they ate of the fruit that he offered.
In other words, the fruit was both tangible and symbolic. They ate of Divinely hidden knowledge: The Lord walked among them, and they perceived that being godlike- like Lord YHVH- meant possessing greater natural knowledge. Moreover, to Adam and Eve being godlike was about obtaining God’s hidden and forbidden knowledge, as opposed to some transformation into mighty, indestructible entities. Therefore, we must reexamine the first commandment (or law) that God gave to them to better understand how the evil spirit, the messenger of death, beguiled them to trespass:
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die [dying you shall die].” (Gen. 2:16-17); NKJV; emp. & intrpl. mine
Imagine that you in your youth, naked and trusting, with a mind of innocence from any wrongdoing, are given but one stern commandment by your mother or father, and your maturing, somewhat unwise mind begins to ponder over their warning. This is similar to how Adam and Eve first lived and trusted in their Father, and they had that one enigma to consider: ‘Why can we not eat of that one tree? Why would God kill us on the day we eat from it? Is it poisonous? Why is it here with us? Why does it have appealing fruit if the fruit cannot be eaten?’
They were willing to be disobedient and chance death just to learn of that one secret thing, if only coaxed but a little. As an old adage goes, they wanted the one thing that they could not have.
Then the evil spirit came and he worked through the subtle serpent. What do you, the reader, suppose the adversary of mankind might do to tempt the innocent couple into not heeding words of warning from God? I propose that the adversarial spirit would have a spiritually possessed animal eat from the forbidden fruit to show them that the creature would not surely die within a day of eating it, or even become ill in doing so. Why would the serpent- at least, in their thinking, having knowledge of natural foods- consume something that was poisonous? How could God’s words of warning possibly prove true? Or, in Adam’s case, what knowledge did God forbid and omit in His warning? What was hidden concerning this fruit that God told them contained knowledge of good and evil? Should they not reason in their own way that what was good for the goose (the serpent) should be good for the gander (them)?
We often think of the garden serpent as a carnivore, yet we should consider that many creatures like skinks (snakelike with legs) and lizards eat fruits and vegetation, and also that many herbivorous species have become extinct over time. The subtle serpent that deceived Eve had legs, which is what we would today call a “skink.”
Only one plant-eating snake has purportedly been observed in nature, suggesting that it is not only plausible that it was a literal serpent, but it may have been natural for other species to eat various forms of fruits and vegetation. The famed tentacled snake- Erpeton tentaculatumum- of Asia has, reportedly, been observed eating plant-life in its natural, aquatic habitat, as a supplement to its fish diet.
And then there is the real possibility that the serpent in the garden may have been a snake/serpent species that is no longer extant, which had legs like an extinct eupodophis. Nonetheless, to us it would have appeared to be more like a skink. Also, there was no equivalent word in ancient Hebrew. Whatever readers of Genesis might suppose of the creature, it was apparently- fitting the Genesis account- some kind of climbing tree-snake, found tempting in the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, eating the garden fruits.
What I am asserting is that the tree had no need of a metaphysical quality or some unknown chemical composition to cause their eyes to be magically opened to the knowledge of good and evil. They learned of evil because they were disobedient and the spirit of Satan deceived her and tempted him through his deceptive use of knowledge. When someone cunningly plots, deceives, and betrays to kill you in your gullible innocence, it hits home hard and you suddenly learn of real evil. But, for Adam and Eve, they were not entirely innocent because they had forsaken God and the first commandment that He had given to them. Like our first commandment- “You shall have no other gods before you”– they had a first commandment to trust and obey God’s Word, not trust in their own limited comprehension of nature. When they disobeyed in an attempt to be gods rather than patiently wait upon the Lord to learn with His wisdom, they put gods before Him (i.e., themselves). The fruit was “good” for food but also “evil” in that it indeed brought death. It was arrogant and evil for them to disobey and eat it, and the same spirit of rebellion lives to this day in people (especially the highly educated in science) who believe that they know better.
Moreover, God told them that they would die on the day that they ate of the fruit, and the spirit of Satan was telling them that they would not die on the day they disobeyed God and ate of it. The evil spirit, using the subtle serpent, was saying, ‘Look, I have higher knowledge of natural truths than you do.’ Adam knew that God’s words could be trusted, but knowing how to distinguish between one truth and what was presented as another truth, which they saw with their eyes (fruit not being lethal), helped them both accept the serpent’s version of his superior knowledge. Adam ate knowing that he would die, simply to know what was hidden in the fruit. Eve was more innocent, for she was tricked into thinking a deception had already been told her by God. Thus, in one case there was distrust, being deceived, and the other blatant disregard for the future simply to see. Just as Paul said, Eve was deceived while Adam was not, which was no compliment to him. Adam ate in open rebellion, not being deceived into thinking that God had lied but only wanting the rest of the story- to be godlike.
Adam and Eve were not spiritually killed that day for disobedience, as some erring Christian denominations maintain in their theology, for they both talked and walked with God in long lives after their initial transgression, and God did not say His Spirit would cease openly striving with all of humankind until the prophecy given in the days of Noah. People such as Enoch and Noah walked with God because they agreed- their spirits to His Spirit. Adam and Eve and those after them would die in the flesh for their sins, and each die within a single millennial day. Their spirits would not perish for their rebellion. And even the churches teach that their descendants must die in the flesh because of their original sin; so the mystery of dying on the day that they disobeyed remains a biblically-relevant inquiry. Further, it teaches us the original forbidden knowledge that we were meant to eventually learn from God.
What Satan did is known as giving deceptive half-truths or words of a forked tongue, in this case laced with venom for death, whereby the evil spirit could turn around and say that God had also only given them a half-truth. However, in Hebrew God’s words more accurately mean that “dying you shall die,” allowing for a timely process, showing that God had not deceived them in any way.
Thus, the first deception Satan used to expel the children of God from His millennial Sabbath paradise was knowledge of time- higher knowledge of much longer days. They did not know the difference between the days of God and the days of mortals, so they trusted what they observed in nature and their tainted knowledge of partial comprehension. Adam knew that death was the punishment, but the fruit he saw as food.
This was apparently Satan’s greatest victory yet in clever trickery, applying the first law of God with hidden knowledge of good and evil to gain authority over humans. Now, however, we find that the serpent has grown as bold as a dragon and deceives in the end of the age much as he did them in the Genesis, through natural knowledge of time- denying the six creation days of God’s Word, knowing that people do not comprehend what was Divinely hidden. The creature of the adversary’s spirit was cast down for tempting with the fruits, but the adversary spirit was left to test mankind’s faith in God’s words until the faithful remnant of humankind is restored to live beyond a heavenly day, to live beyond the initial curse.
A millennial boundary or limitation of one “day” was placed on the years of mortal lives. Hence, there is a reason for an initial Sabbath millennium to come, when Christ rules from Jerusalem with a rod of iron, before the G.W.T.J.
THE TREE OF LIFE AND HIS RIGHTEOUS FRUITS
They consumed of Satan’s words/fruit of death over the Lord’s words/fruits of eternal life. The knowledge of the Law of good and evil is indeed good, a “light to the feet,” but unwisely partaking of the Law to be knowledgeable gods while disobedient to God’s words of Salvation, which are also His Law, brings the curse of death. First, there must be obedience to God’s words of Salvation by faith rather than taking in knowledge of good and evil from God’s Word in rebellion to Salvation.
In other words, the story of Adam and Eve is a foreshadowing event: They were at first able to eat from the fruits of the Tree of Life in the garden with them which were symbolic of the words of the Messiah who then walked among them, who offers eternal life, but they chose their own judgments, knowledge, and perceptions of the fruit of the Law by forsaking the words of Salvation- fruits of righteousness by faith. They chose their own understanding of truths over the Lord’s Word and warning. They had two trees to choose from- one of life and the wisdom and faith to believe and obey, and the other knowledge unto death via their rebellion with Satan.
Every time a religion twists the Word of God and feeds it to their believing masses, they are committing the original sin, over and over again. Why? Because they want to show that they have superior knowledge, and they want to show others how to become gods- to know the things of God that pertain to obtaining immortal life. So they take the Word of God- the knowledge of good and evil- and tell them that they will open their eyes with enlightenment. Some of them, especially the ministers and pastors who adhere to theistic evolution, even posture that God’s days of creation cannot be trusted as anything literal, as opposed to empirical truths found in nature- that God’s Genesis account is merely poetic.
The most rebellious sinner is the eater who hears the voice of Truth and eats what he or she knows is corrupted anyway. Those who continue to do this, be they teacher and eater of scriptural knowledge or natural knowledge, and yet refuse the Tree of Salvation and Life, will not enter the coming Kingdom. Those who are there and do so will be cast out while the faithful are brought in.
Adam and Eve’s awakening was like most of our own in maturing, learning that the world is not filled with all good people of noble intentions, when we learn that the world is much bigger than our own little worlds and extremely limited comprehension, and that people in the world have their own agendas that contradict the Word of God. Satan uses the commandments of God as opportunities to bring accusations against people who are subject to God’s Law, being an adversary of life. Again, Adam and Eve desired what they saw with their own eyes, their own judgments of nature, and they were led astray as rebellious children in pursuit of higher knowledge rather than obeying God and seizing the opportunity to eat of the Tree of Life for an eternal dwelling.
Thus, the message at the beginning of biblical history is the most important spiritual lesson that people face today in a rebellious world of waxing knowledge and waning wisdom. The lesson is to heed the words/fruits that grant eternal life while resisting temptation from observation of nature and partial comprehension of religion to deny Christ.
Right now I could list numerous messianic prophecies off the top of my head, given in the Tanakh, which confess the salvation we have in Messiah and the tree that He was hung on- like when and where He would be born, the works He would do, and how He would be killed. But He was rejected by those who trusted in their own knowledge of the Law, putting their comprehension of good and evil over the Lord’s words of Salvation.
This is how Satan seeks to again expel the children of the Lord from the future, millennial paradise of the Great Sabbath. The Tree of Life- God’s saving Word (the fruits of Yeshua)- is being rejected as children choose their own understanding of the Bible and secular knowledge, trespassing against the Truth. They have eagerly eaten the fruits of biblical knowledge to judge God’s Word, but they have rejected the very Tree that they must eat from for salvation. Many hear the voice of Truth and yet choose to eat what leads to death.
In order for the rebelling children of the Lord to return to Him, they must pass a flaming Sword that swirls in every direction- the double edged blade of the Spirit that rightly divides all His truths. If they think that they have the sure knowledge of truth, knowing good and evil, and that God’s words of Salvation (Yeshua) are untrue, they must battle His Sword- His Holy Word. No rebel may enter the coming paradise without grasping the Sword of His Spirit- Ruach HaKodesh– which cuts with His fiery truths. The sword of God’s Holy Word cuts unsparingly, and it is destined in the hands of His chosen messengers to turn upon all to clarify His glorious works. It pierces the depths of all hearts and cleanses houses for the Spirit. Even today, God sends out his witnesses to walk the world of mortals, and they face ears that are stopped and hearts that are too heavy in worldly things to retain the mysteries of the Scriptures.
Since the Genesis, no man or woman has lived beyond one of God’s days, which is 1,000 years. Methuselah, the longest living person found in Scripture, lived 969 years. Many of Adam’s descendants came very near to the 1000-year-day boundary, being genetically superior, but not one of them surpassed the curse of dying within a day. Enoch did not; Jeremiah did not; and even Elijah did not surpass this boundary set on mortal life. They all died, although some of their deaths are hidden in God’s Word, leaving some to imagine they gained fleshly immortality.
As Paul, a Pharisee and apostle of Jesus Christ, said, “flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does corruption inherit incorruption,” speaking of the spiritual Kingdom (see 1 Cor. 15:50). Spirits go before the throne of God, who is Holy Spirit, but no human flesh has ever seen God’s face; even Moses only glimpsed God’s glory as He passed, hidden in the rock. Those who did see God face to face in the Old Testament and New Testament saw the Angel of the LORD in the Son of God- God Among Us. Enoch “was not” alive in the flesh because God took his spirit away, and Elijah took a ride in a whirlwind through the troposphere, but Elijah lived thereafter and even wrote a letter to the king of Judah when his zeal compelled him to do so.
Moreover, not seeing death and not leaving behind a body are two very different things. No one from Adam onward has lived in flesh beyond the millennial boundary that God placed upon humans. When Christ was raised in the flesh and later ascended into the heavens, He was the first. It was also as a sign for us- that on the third millennial day after the cross, a faithful Body of Believers will be gathered to the Spirit in the flesh to His coming Kingdom, and two witnesses will be with the Body as they ascend to His call. The Messiah is the firstborn of the new form that the elect will soon inherit. No man ascended into spiritual heaven, in the flesh, to see the face of God, but we perceive through our visions and dreams, and on rarer occasions messenger spirits from Heaven may appear in the form of humanity.
When Revelation puts forth a mystery of the New Jerusalem, and we are told that its measurements are after “the measure of a man, that is, of an angel,” it points us back to the original boundary of life placed on Adam and his descendants, which was a curse of time upon them because of the messenger of death. This is why the boundary of Messiah’s reign until the eighth day is at first but 1,000 years, showing that those with Him will first overcome the boundary set on mortal life then put on immortal life after the last enemy (Death) is destroyed at the G.W.T.J. Thus, a whole day will first be lived by some, then, in the glorious bodies believers are given, an eternity beyond. They will trust in God’s Word of Salvation, and the very things that the adversary had taken and utilized for death, God will restore via the Christ‘s sacrificial fruits:
“For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me…It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you who do not believe,” for Jesus [Yeshua] knew from the beginning [Genesis] who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him [as in the garden]. “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father [like the guarded Tree of Life].” From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. Then Jesus [Yeshua] said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?” But Simon Peter [Kefa] answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.’” (John 6:56-57; 63-67) NKJV; Christ explaining that His followers must eat of Him to live forever; emp. & intrpl. mine
Many people reach the Tree of Life of Messiah’s sacrifice and eat of the redemptive fruit that was appointed before the world-ages were founded upon Him. Listen very closely concerning the Beginning and the End: He became our unrighteous Fruit that we hung back on the tree, nailed to the cross, and this was because God’s people trusted in their own knowledge of the Law over His fruits (His words) of Salvation. Christ told them that they would die in their sins if they did not eat of Him, and Jerusalem would be destroyed within a generation, but few heeded His words to understand how they could possibly prove true. Those who believe are given His fruits- words of eternal life– if by faith we believe and take them in. He became the substitutive curse of death, for “cursed is every man hung on a tree,” according to the Divine Law, as emphasized in Torah and by Apostle Paul. The curse is reversed from the beginning for those who will return to paradise at the appointed time, if they but follow the clear waters of the Word back to the Garden, and if they are able to endure the fiery, revolving Sword of the Spirit. He became the substitute of our curse, nailing the curses of the Law back on the tree after we ate in haughty rebellion, and in return He has left us the fruits of eternal life, if we but eat of His sacrifice.
All the spirits of humankind are born again to learn of these truths, until the appointed time of grace has passed. Indeed, the time is short, and the reckoning quickens upon us; to forego these simple things at this time is a crime that shall be held in the Divine court with a required account.
These things are not too difficult for us to grasp, no more than fruit hanging from a tree, at least not for readers who will reach up to God and turn back their hearts to His Truth. But there was a blinder put on these things for a time, so I am trying to clarify that this was about humans choosing knowledge apart from God rather than embracing God’s Word since the beginning of the age. To reverse the curse and live beyond the millennial-day-boundary, Christ must become our curse of sin, hung back on the tree for substitution and attainment of innocence and righteousness before God. He died, having no sin of His own, once and for all, for all who would turn back and believe, and we need only to make the right choice between our fruits of knowledge and that which is clearly given by the higher wisdom of God. A curse came by a tree in the beginning, which restricted them from the fruits of a tree of eternal life; and a curse must be hung back on the tree of God’s Law- knowledge of good and evil- while leaving us His fruits of life by His sacrifice. This is the ages-old reckoning of Divine justice, and it matters not how we in our limited wisdom may perceive of it.
“Then it shall be in that day, that I will call My servant Eliakim [Raised of God] the son of Hilkiah [God is My Portion]; I will clothe him with your robe [the steward of Jerusalem] and strengthen him with your belt [the Law]; I will commit your responsibility into his hand. He [Yeshua] shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. The key of the house of David [all Israel] I will lay on his shoulder; so he shall open, and no one shall shut; and he shall shut, and no one shall open. I will fasten [nail] him as a peg in a secure [established] place, and he shall become a glorious throne to his father’s house [God’s Temple]. They will hang on him all the glory of his father’s house, the offspring and the posterity, all vessels [people fitted for God’s use] of small quantity [meekness], from the cups to all the pitchers. In those days,” says the LORD of hosts,“ the peg [Yeshua’s burden] that is fastened [nailed] in the secure place will be removed and be cut down and fall, and the burden [of redemption] that was on it will be cut off; for the LORD has spoken.” (Isa. 22:20-25) NKJV; intrpl. mine
KEYS OF THE COMING KINGDOM OF GOD
Messiah, manifest as the hidden knowledge of God (Aleph and Alpha), is connected to the Key of Knowledge with fruitful words of life. The hidden key of the Law- the knowledge of good and evil- is now given back for the good of the Law and life, rather than it being used for evil and death. Being the Fullness of the Word of the Law, the key that brought death is hidden in Him, that He might loosen the bonds of Satan- bondage to death- having taken back the Key of Hades to release the prisoners for a return to life and paradise. This He did.
Hades means the unseen realm and speaks of bondage to the darkness of ignorance, but with the Key of Knowledge through Christ we perceive the things of life and can escape.
Now this Key of Knowledge is no longer hidden at the will of God, for “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law,” (NKJV) as Moses said. Though it has been hidden to many people who do not comprehend the Book of Knowledge of Good and Evil, we have the Word confirmed, even as Moses said, “For a thousand years in Your sight are like yesterday when it is past, and like a watch in the night [one of six daily parts watching for Messiah’s coming].” Therefore these things are no longer hidden to those who observe the Divine Law, but they should be utilized for spiritual instructions. The Messiah, reminding us of the Genesis account- being the Beginning and the Aleph (Alpha)- instructs us to use this key to connect and restore all truths. With this key, being an essential part of the Word of God, we are thus able to perform all the words of this Law, which also means the Lord’s instructions.
None of this denies personal, spiritual salvation by faith, for I am not writing either-or, but of the work of God in forming His coming millennial paradise on Earth. This article is not about spiritual Heaven but of Heaven to come.
We discern that the Key of Knowledge and entrance into paradise was hidden in the Word- hidden meaning ignored or dismissed by those who led the people and studied it. Neither did many of them teach the Key of the House of David, which is a Great Sabbath coming to Israel. Messiah, having all wisdom and knowledge of the Father, came to shed the Creator’s greater light on the Divine Law, for the doorkeepers of the chosen kingdom had transgressed: not teaching the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. By His keys we enter into the truths of the Kingdom and await its appointed time of manifestation in our world.
“Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered.” (Luke 11:52) NKJV
(NB: These things Christ said concerning the “wisdom of God,” which is connected with fruits of righteousness and several times to the Tree of Life (cf. Prov. 3:18; 11:30; 13:1-14; 15:2-5). He spoke of this “wisdom of God” concerning punishment for not heeding God’s Word, which He related back to the foundation of the world-age in Genesis (cf. Luke 11:49-51). God is called the “Beginning” (Genesis) of all wisdom, for He is the Aleph (or Alpha) of the Word (Ps. 111:10; Prov. 9:10; 15:33). Hence, in His rebuking of many religious leaders of that generation, Christ was saying that by taking away the “Key of Knowledge” they were hindering people from hearing from God and entering the paradise kingdom, stealing their faith much as Satan hindered Adam and Eve with a distorted form of knowledge of good and evil.)
Relatedly below, the context is about religious leaders who loved to be exalted and called “fathers” and “teachers,” when God alone is the Father and His Messiah teaches us the Word and way of salvation. Satan exalted himself in giving the forbidden fruits of knowledge in the beginning and led them astray from the fruits of everlasting life. So both passages are about pride of knowledge while not heeding the Word of God with faith.
“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.” (Matt. 23:13) NKJV
The passages above do not concern a physical key for entering the spiritual Kingdom of Heaven, but rather the Key of Knowledge concerns spiritual truths that unlock the great mystery of the coming Kingdom, which many before our age have entered into for an awaited Kingdom. What the passages above indicate is that religious people have not discerned the Word of God and have hindered others from perceiving. They chose their own knowledge and forgot many scriptural truths that have been handed down over the ages, leaving few with true understanding to lead others to the open Door we have in Messiah- to His Kingdom to come.
Although the teachers of the Scriptures have not known the full paradigm of the times, the seventh day has not been unreachable to their understanding. The Key of David’s House and Key of Knowledge have long been known by some faithful Jews and Christians. There were many Hebrews who understood the millennial week before the Church Age, and as I have written elsewhere, it was a common patristic belief in the first few centuries of Christianity, even believed by Augustine before he abandoned the coming Kingdom.
The issue at hand is why these things have not become mainstream thought. Why did they not esteem these important things and so lightly cast them away? I believe it is because they have sought to glorify their own days and the Synagogue or the Church over the Messiah’s coming Kingdom, and the deep things of God they did not fully believe. Like Adam and Eve before them, they chose their own comprehension of worldly truth over the Word of God for salvation. Again, these are not physical keys but truths within the Word that are able to enlighten believers. These are not gnostic concepts forbidden by God; rather they are keys that should be used for instructing. Christ returned these keys to give life.
“And I [Yeshua] also say to you that you are Peter [Kefa- Petros- little, movable rock], and on this rock [Petra, big Rock formation] I will build My church [assembly], and the gates of Hades [unseen realm] will not prevail against her. And I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of Heaven. And whatever you bind [bring together] on earth shall occur, having already been bound in Heaven. And whatever you may loose on the earth shall be, having already been loosed in heaven.’” (Matt. 16:18-19) TIB; intrpl. mine.
What does this mean? It means that Peter would reveal spiritual keys in his letters, such as a day of the Lord being a millennium, but the great assembly of Petra is much bigger, being united on the Rock which is Messiah- coming from God and filling the whole world when He reigns from Jerusalem, as written by Daniel. The gates or doors of darkness in the spiritual realm are not able resist those who possess these ancient Kingdom keys. With these keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, God assembles His people, as is already assembled in the spiritual blueprint. And without these keys, those who are not united in truths will rebel while He finishes gathering His elect. Thus, there is a Petra in the wilderness for those who will faithfully await Him in tabernacles. He will call back the lost sheep of the House of Israel with Gentiles who keep His Word, and the Kingdom of God will come to Earth as it is in Heaven.
These things have little to do with the Roman Catholic papacy, for most priests abandoned the Divine Kingdom keys long ago. They decided many centuries past that they wanted to reign now, not await Christ’s reign in Jerusalem, which is discerned in their A-millennial and Post-millennial eschatology- their spiritualizing away corporeal prophecies of God and materializing things that are reserved for the Spirit.
Further, the Church that Messiah spoke of specifically implies a called-out assembly that He spiritually builds-up through the ages (called out of the Babylonian system of lies), not a basilica, church, nor cathedral. Peter envisioned a nation of spiritual priests as “living stones” of a Temple being constructed over time, of people hidden in Christ and God, not some patristic order of learned clergymen and towering structures that deceive.
Concerning the Kingdom, a child with faith in Scripture, while not comprehending all that he or she reads, is a much greater priest unto God than a scholarly man in a flowing robe who historically understands much and yet doubts all that he knows of Scripture, especially when such a man teaches others to do likewise. Many Catholics have been, and will be, part of this greater Temple of holy spirits and the coming Kingdom of Christ, but it has nothing to do with a questionable, possibly corrupt, hierarchy at Rome, repeating “Hail Marys,” rubbing magic Rosary beads, sprinkling their supposed holy water, bowing before carved idols, or their dependence upon dead priests in dark closets to hear and forgive our personal sins. All such traditions are but diabolical distractions from key truths of God’s glorious Word- superstitious nonsense that should be called for what they are.
How did Peter deliver these keys that bind the true Petra assembly? The Key of Unity, as written by Peter, is that Messiah comes on the third day from the cross (cf. Acts 10:16, 40-44; Hos. 6:1-3), which was the meaning of Him being raised in the flesh on the third day; He will be revealed among us after two millennial days, in the flesh. Also, Peter foretold of His Sabbath, and every learned Jew of the day already knew what the “times of refreshing” meant, when sins are to be blotted-out in the presence of the Lord; God rested on the seventh day “and was refreshed.” Many Jews of the time taught that the Messiah would bring the world, specifically the twelve restored tribes, into a greater Sabbath and new Kingdom of David, while others clearly forgot and ignored the rest and refreshing (see Isa. 28:9-13); this is the Key of the House of David. Finally, Peter reminded believers that Heaven must receive Messiah until the “times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world [world-age] began.” (See Acts 3:17-22.) Jewish disciples of the Messiah awaited the restoration of all biblical truths for the coming Kingdom of David, as was evident even unto His ascension. The times were kept in God’s own power until the Holy Spirit came to remind them and reveal all things. And still there is a “Latter Rain” of the Spirit to teach, when Elijah restores all things to unite the hearts of the fathers and children for one faith.
Therefore, Peter revealed the Key of Knowledge (1 becomes 1,000), Key of the House of David (that the Kingdom would be a Sabbath for all restored tribes), Key of Unity (Messiah returning to us in the flesh on the third day), and together these keys enlighten us to the spiritual things of God, which is why the Messiah said he has the “Key of Hades” (the unseen realm) to free us from spiritual darkness. With these keys of the coming Kingdom of Heaven we have all that we need to unlock biblical mysteries and to know when the Messiah and His Kingdom comes.
No one knew the exact earthly Day of Messiah’s coming, just as nobody knew what a microwave was two thousand years ago, but we know the signs of the times and the millennial Day of the LORD. Such things were not meant to be veiled forever, for a time was appointed for the restoration of all things at the end of the age, to prepare the way for the coming of the Lord. Indeed, we may have never known a day to the Lord, but we can certainly comprehend what it means. We may not know the exact day of Messiah’s revelation to the world, but we know of the Day of God in which He will reign.
All truths must be made plain for the Messiah’s coming, which tells us that many of these things have been lost and would remain so until the end of the age. Had the Catholic Church or the Protestant reformers truly restored all things, the eyes of the world would be set upon Jerusalem and its glorification, but they purposely ignored things of God that did not suit their theologies, which is manifest to anyone who learns how scriptural truths fit together. They make mention of the Lord coming “as a thief,” including upon themselves, because they do not comprehend that we are not of the world that the Lord’s “day should overtake us as a thief.” We are given the light of understanding. They often repeat that “eye has not seen nor ear heard” of what the Lord has in store, not continuing on to perceive that we can know all relevant things by the Spirit and by having “the mind of Christ.” We see these things by the Spirit. Christians need restoration and knowledge of the double-edged Sword, for many do not perceive that we may not know the earthly day of the Lord’s coming but are told of the Day via seven millenniums, and fully twenty two in the Moedim Paradigm. There is no reason that true Bible-believers should continue to ignore these important things.
But, beloved, be not ignorant [lanthano] of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord [Great Sabbath] will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens [skies] will pass away [be consumed] with a great noise [rushing sound], and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. (2 Pet. 3:8-9) KJV; intrpl. mine
But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord [Sabbath Day] so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness [ignorance], so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light [enlightenment] and the sons of day. We are not of the night or darkness. (1 Thess. 5:1-5) NKJV; intrpl. mine
The word Peter used, lanthano, which is translated “ignorant” and “forget” and other words, fully means unwitting of hidden things, as if one senses there is indeed something just below a surface, but he or she remains indifferent to it and will not explore to learn. It speaks of something that lies hidden that people purposely overlook. It is one crucial thing that should not be ignored nor forgotten concerning the great Day of the LORD, for the Great Sabbath is understood with the Key of Knowledge. The many things hidden in this knowledge sincerely call for an embrace. Yet the churches have not truly held to “this one thing” but have dismissed it in obstinate arrogance. For this reason, they are ignorant (meaning ignoring) of the millennial framework of God’s works through the Divine week and, indeed, most of the prophecies, holy days, and witnessing parables.
Again, Peter did deliver the keys of the coming Kingdom of Heaven for the assemblies of New Jerusalem. Yet the understanding Bible student can perceive these keys from multiple passages of earlier Scriptures even without Peter’s letters, if only they listen to the Spirit. And whether Petro and Petra were historically retained as a pun, spoken by the Messiah, or the Messiah simply said Kefa and Kefa, speaking of building His called-out Assembly with keys to the Kingdom, it really does not matter to those who look to Scriptures rather than the presumed authority of the performers of religious pageantry. There will be another physical Temple at Jerusalem, but there is a spiritual Temple for the Holy Spirit that has long been in the making, and it is not dependent upon institutions that have cast away important biblical truths.
Moreover, most Catholics, Protestants, and Jews are not expecting Messiah c. 2029 because they have forgotten the signs of the times and, like Adam and Eve, have chosen their own knowledge over the Word. Comprehension of the Bible’s millennial week is the basis upon which all other scriptural mysteries of time can be discerned.
THE NEW CHALLENGE ON GOD’S DAYS
Today, the serpent uses the same tactic of disbelief, to keep people away from the coming Sabbath paradise, that he used to expel Adam and Eve. He causes people to disbelieve by asking how God’s creation days in Genesis can possibly be factually correct. Now, however, the doubt he spreads against God’s Word comes via the billions of years observed in nature’s geological record. Thus, is it possible that people have again jumped-the-gun to doubt God’s Word?
The following are some of the rational things that the cunning evil spirit now says to straying hearts as the world eats the fruits of scientific knowledge, for now the serpent spirit has grown as bold as a dragon- “evolved.” Remember, although we have liberty in the Lord to seek knowledge, without the wisdom of the Word that knowledge usually leads to rebellion:
‘Did a god really say that he created the world in six days? And how many gods and goddesses and religions are there, each having their own creation myth? Which one is correct? Or are they all subjective, based upon ignorance? Think about it. Am I not wiser to partake of all the real knowledge in this world? Surely I will not perish as others live eternally for disregarding the supposed instructions of a god, one among many, because these words are incorrect. I can live. Life is much too short to waste with this nonsense. Why not keep my eyes open, knowing natural facts. The age of the universe is much older than this god supposedly said in Genesis. We have the strata to know, which offer a true record – the geological columns- that agrees with empirical dating techniques. How can billions of years be reconciled to six days? I should put these things under my feet right away, for I have the enlightenment of truth. I am truly modern by my superior education, much too clever to fall for the ridiculous words of these ignorant, religious fanatics. Besides, didn’t they borrow their stories from ancient Sumerian myths and other religions? They knew nothing, but I have the facts of empirical science. Did the apostles not believe they were in the last days 2,000 years ago? Look, it has not happened yet! If I cannot trust their beginning, how can I trust their end? Trust yourself, the reasoning of your own mind, and it will reveal the truths of the world by nature, what I can see and test with my own eyes and hands, not miracles that go against logic and natural laws. Where is the generation that this messiah said would not pass away until seeing his glorious arrival? Are they not all dead? Why should I believe such utter nonsense? Do I really wish to be a fool for a lifetime, a slave to religious guilt and left behind by the brighter world of what we know exists? Do I wish to be mocked and seen as some ignorant, knuckle-dragging Neanderthal? Pay no heed to such fairytales, but expose to others what was derived from archaic fantasies. Science gives me all the true understanding that I need, which the world can soundly believe. Look how much people look like chimps and gorillas, and what god would allow viruses and evils- if there is such a thing- which I have already seen? No, I won’t listen to dark, religious myths and miracles written by ignorant people who did not and do not understand science, and cannot be trusted for the conjectures of their imaginations! At best they are insane, and at worst they are deceptive and dangerous. But I am definitely better than that. I am truly a god of today, not of the Dark Ages, so I will live my life freely as a god, as a product of mindless nature, until the day that I die. No need to waste it on religious guilt, rather I can battle such nonsense to grant other people true liberty. I can expose their contradictions and put forth questions that I know that they can’t answer and pride myself in my superior knowledge and comprehension. Meanwhile, I can call their good evil and their evil good and do whatever suits my tastes for pleasure and excites my evolved senses.’
By pride of our knowledge and trusting what we observe in nature with our own eyes over God’s Word, the adversary spirit brings mankind to believe that we have gained a much higher understanding. Thus, the unfaithful, thinking that God’s days cannot possibly prove true, are subject to an awakening more profound than that experienced by Adam and Eve. Those who trust their presumed higher comprehension think that they have won the ancient war for empirical truths, having subjected Scripture to the confines of mythology, but God has yet to show what is hidden in His Right Hand. In youthful lingo, the mockers are about to get served by the Word, and when He walks in the garden of the world, they, too, will seek to hide in shame of their spiritual rebellion. For far too many people an awakening will come much too late at the dawning of Messiah, and only then will they truly comprehend that the mind of God transcends the thoughts of men.
Why not tell the first couple about the longer, millennial days of God and His restoration in creating the paradise rather than cloaking the knowledge? The simple answer is that they were not ready. And how much knowledge would have sufficed had God began pouring out all the mysteries of time? How burdened would their young minds have become? How much confusion would have replaced faith? Further, they had to make their own choice- to be allowed to exalt their own perceptions over God’s words. So the tree of knowledge was left there for a reason, and indeed it could have been any tree that God told them not to eat of. The ultimate awakening to evil and rebellion would come when they were ready to question God’s honesty, but only then would they be able to perceive the Light that shines through the darkness of mortal ignorance.
Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”- therefore the LORD God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned ever way, to guard the way to the tree of life. (Gen. 3:22-24) NKJV
The children of God were cast out of the bountiful garden to do their own works in the cursed earth rather than depend upon His fruitful provisions. Nonetheless, God left them and us many messianic signs to be understood over the process of time. For example, when Moses sent out the twelve men representing all the children of Israel, to spy out the Promised Land, they, too, did not believe God, that they could possess it, although they brought back fruits on a pole along with an evil report. And the Lord was angry at their disbelief, and He swore that they would not enter His Sabbath. Only those who trusted and followed faithful Yehoshua (and Caleb), who gave the good news of the promised kingdom, from whose name we have Yeshua, could enter the land to await God’s kingship. So we perceive that faith in God’s Word and His promises are of greater value than our partial self-reasoning and doubts. The bountiful harvest of fruits that they carried on the wood was evidence of God’s truths- the fruits of His words- but, like the Tree of Life in the garden, and like the fruits of Christ’s promise of the coming Kingdom of Heaven, they trusted their lives to their own incomplete understanding.
All these things relate to Yeshua haMashiach and the ultimate promises of the Great Sabbath to come. This is the good news, and He- the Commander of the hosts- leads us by the Word and Spirit. So even with the fruits hung on the tree and evidence of the bountiful kingdom, the tribal leaders of Israel brought back a false report based upon their own doubts- that they could not enter therein, even with God declaring that they could truly possess it.
These things, of course, were shadows of greater truths in the mystery. The Christian offspring with the heart of the Hebrew fathers- Gentiles who did not know God’s Book of Knowledge of Good and Evil- can enter the promised Kingdom by faith. Likewise, the hearts of Jews can be restored to possess the promises of the Kingdom, if they learn to trust in God’s salvation through Yeshua- if they learn to see spiritual things as children, looking upon the fruit of the Kingdom that was hung on a tree; it all comes down to faith in God’s Word or faith in the partial and impatient comprehension of human reasoning.
“Joshua [Yeshua] the son of Nun, who stands before you, he shall go in there. Encourage him, for he shall cause Israel to inherit it. Moreover your little ones and your children, who you say will be victims, who today have no knowledge of good and evil, they shall go in there; to them I will give it, and they shall possess it.” (Deut. 1:38-39) NKJV; intrpl. & emp. mine
For the LORD is the great God, and a great King above all gods. In His hand are the deep places [valleys] of the earth; the heights of the hills are His also. The sea is His, for He made it; and His hands also formed the dry land. Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. Today, if you will hear His voice: “Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion [Meribah], as in the day of trial [Massah] in the wilderness, when your fathers tested Me; they tried Me, though they saw my work. For forty years I was grieved with that generation, and said, ‘It is a people who go astray in their hearts, and they do not know My ways.’ So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’” (Ps. 95:3-11) NKJV; intrpl. mine
The first week of the Moedim Paradigm was complete with the Sabbath rest in the Garden of Eden, but Adam and Eve did not rest during that millennium with God. They were expelled, and the Sabbath plan of God was set to ripple (cf. Gen. 3:23-24; Heb. 4:3-6). Thus, a second Sabbath millennium became available for the children of Israel after they escaped Egyptian bondage. However, they rebelled in the wilderness and could not enter God’s millennial rest (cf. Ps. 95:8-11; Heb. 3:7-18; 4:2-10). They also rejected God’s kingship over them for a king of their own making in Saul. Again, God’s plan was postponed but ripples out to the world.
Moreover, a final Sabbath millennium is reserved for those entering the coming Kingdom. Many prophets and apostles knew this, and people who continue in their ancient faith should likewise learn of it:
Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it…For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”…There remains therefore a rest [Shabbat] for the people of God. (Heb. 4:1, 4, 9) NKJV
The resting period has for centuries been spiritualized away, whereas those who have done so deny a future event for the world. While it is true that we have spiritual rest in Christ, the specific sequence of works and Sabbath rest cannot be dismissed. The rest was not only about our personal works, but it is also prophetic and concerns a period of seven days. Otherwise, the seventh day need not be awaited nor noted. Paul spoke of a future time that begins today in our faithfulness- a seventh day that we should strive to enter- not merely of a present rest. The awaited Kingdom is also evident via ancient Jewish writings, some found among the Dead Sea and Nag Hammadi scrolls. These things are not new, and they precede any spiritualization attempts by the renegade churches/synagogues and their leaders.
For skeptics, suppose for a moment that the Bible is indeed the canon of books given from the Creator for humans to contemplate, written by His Holy-Spirit-inspired scribes. From a skeptical perspective, the very first story is indeed peculiar. Two naked youths moseying about in paradise make a crucial mistake of eating fruit in which they were warned not to by God, resulting in harsh punishment and expulsion from their beloved home for harsh toil. And a snake tricked them into their rebellion. In a strictly literal and critical reading, the first story is not much more realistic than any other ancient myth or legend. And from a literary perspective it is not composed as a beautiful work of poetic art, unless one knows the symbolism of God. So the questions become: ‘Why would the Creator of the world begin teaching with the simple story of Adam and Eve rather than describing some of the billions of galaxies and trillions of solar systems so similar to our own? Why not start with the interworking of the cell or something more complex and intriguing? Why not begin with a detailed account of how He created natural laws and the material universe, if He wanted us to believe?’
Perhaps the world could have retained such things throughout the ages- although it’s doubtful considering the need of humanity to build upon knowledge before retaining much heavier things- for us to know without doubt that the account was from God. So why does Scripture begin in such an innocent manner, with a summary of the lives of two simple people? Like any legend or key of knowledge in a complex work, the story of Adam and Eve is a starting point for comprehension of much deeper things. Once the key is esteemed and utilized, it indeed confesses correlating mysteries of the heavens above and the interworking of the cell. If only Adam and Eve would make the Tree of Life their desire and patiently hear the Word.
