Then I, Daniel [judgment of God], looked; and there stood two others, one on this riverbank and the other on that riverbank. And one said to the Man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, “How long shall the fulfillment of these wonders be?” Then I heard the Man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when He held up His right hand and His left hand to heaven, and swore by Him who lives forever, that it shall be for a time, times, and half a time [3.5 years]; and when the power of the holy people has been completely shattered, all these things shall be finished. (Dan. 12:5-7) PIT; intrpl. mine

Before the last and seventh trumpet of the Apocalypse could sound to finish the seven trying years of the coming cataclysm, to begin the reign of Messiah, the Angel of the LORD showed Prophet John a mighty angel standing with his feet on earth and sea, similar to the passage above, and thereafter the coming martyrdom of two anointed witnesses.

This does not necessitate that the messengers will do their prophesying between the 6th and 7th trumpets during the great tribulations and wrath of the last year of the age; rather, it shows that they will prophesy during the coming transition period from the end of the sixth millennial day and beginning of the Great Sabbath: the Day of the LORD. Each of the seven trumpets (besides warning during the seventh year of the Apocalypse) alludes to one of the seven millennial days. Hence, after the Apollyon army of the 5th trumpet (which recalls Roman Caesars and their deities during the fifth millennium), we should expect Moses and Elijah placed between the sixth and seventh trumpets.

Seven Years of Apocalypse, IM

When the “two witnesses” finish their testimony that covers the last half of the Apocalypse week, lasting 3.5 years, the last trumpet (7th) will sound, for the last year of their testimony will be during the first year of the Great Sabbath.

Thus, we must return to midpoint of the Apocalypse, when “Death” and “Hell” are revealed, to see the beginning of the two witnesses’ work of  unification of two groups of Bible-believers, Christians and Jews.

And with the mighty angel preceding their work and leading into their prophesying, we can better comprehend what brings about this unity during such trying times. In this chapter we will take a closer look at the mighty messenger in this light.

The above passage from the Book of Daniel gives us clues to the work of the angel of Revelation, Chapter Nine. With a little spiritual imagery, we can imagine the Word of God flowing from His throne as saving waters, becoming a rushing river and flowing out to the nations of the seas, spreading His Word to the world. As the prophets explained, the Word of God will cover the earth like the waters of the sea. The two men Daniel saw on opposite sides of the river are the two anointed ones who “stand by the Lord of the whole Earth,” and for Daniel they showed the division of the two peoples- Judah and Israel- who have been opposed to each other over the waters of the Word ever since the nation of Israel separated from Judah (c. 920 B.C.). The Man who stood above the waters of the Word is the Messiah, just as Messiah walked on water in the Gospel account. He is the Intermediate and Link and stands in the breech.

Or, it may be viewed that two peoples have been divided over Him. By the teachings of His two anointed ones during the Apocalypse, Moses and Elijah, many people who have been religiously opposed to each other will be united over the waters of Divine salvation. This work will take 3.5 years to complete, then the prophets will be killed, and the power of the holy people will be temporarily shattered as the Beast prevails. When the 7th trumpet sounds, the Messiah will save His people from invading armies from the West and the East. The Lord is shown standing above a river rather than sea (unlike the messenger with one foot on the sea and one on earth in the Apocalypse vision) because at the time of Daniel’s vision the Word had not gone into the world (the seas) from Judea, but the nations of Judah and Israel were already divided. Israel (nation of northern tribes) was scattered among Gentiles by Assyrians, and even before that, they were not united with Judah over the waters of God’s Word- over the River of Life.

Messenger With Open Scroll, PDI
Messenger with the Revelation Scroll, PDI

I saw still another mighty angel [messenger] coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud. And a rainbow was on his head, his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire. He had a little book open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land, and cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars. When he cried out, seven thunders uttered their voices. (Rev. 10:1-3) NKJV; intrpl. mine

The messenger who appears at the close of the 6th millennium appears God-like, but he is a restorer and unifier of the elect, sent in end-times to prepare them for the coming Day of YHVH. Being clothed with a cloud shows that his work has many witnesses, clothed in a “cloud of witnesses” (see Heb. 12:1). The collective cloud expresses rain falling (or soon to descend) from Heaven: showering the world with God’s refreshing Word, as a rainmaker. The rainbow, a token of salvation (see Gen. 9:12) on the messenger’s head, that comes with the waters of the Word sent down and the Sun of Righteousness enlightening it, shows that his mind is towards leading people to salvation, just as the rainbow banner of the saving covenant is arrayed over the Most High’s throne. His face shines like the sun in the vision, expressing that he sends the light of revelation from the Sun of Righteousness” (see Mal. 4).
.
Because of his enlightenment, several exegetes have confused him with Yeshua the Messiah, but he, like John the Baptist, prepares the way before the coming Great King. Messiah is revealed to the world at “the last trumpet,” not before, as with this messenger. His feet are like pillars of fire because he brings refinement for the end-time Body of Christ (i.e, the feet), and his teaching with the little book will be difficult to endure, although of the Holy Spirit (Mal. 3:1-4). The Messiah is seen in Revelation with burnished brass feet, revealing the completion of refinement, whereas the messenger’s feet show the process and a fiery work in preparing the Kingdom elect. The messenger having an opened book/scroll shows revelations in which he is appointed to share with the world.
.
The Messiah was seen unsealing the scroll in Heaven, but here we see a messenger appearing and making bold pronouncements as he stands upon earth and sea. Setting one foot on the sea and the other on the earth shows that he addresses two peoples, and two peoples of God will be united: believers in the land of Israel and believers of the nations of the seas. In Jewish prophetic teachings, Gentiles are connected with the seas, which is where the shortened Goyim was derived. In Christian prophetic teachings, Jews are perceived as earthly Israel.
.
Now when the seven thunders uttered their voices, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Seal up the things which the seven thunders uttered, and do not write them.” (Rev. 10:4) NKJV
.
Why utter these seven mysterious massages if the people of God are not allowed to receive them on Earth, and Prophet John was not allowed to write them down? Was a mistake made in Heaven? And did seven mysterious people or entities speak presumptuously- hastily overstepping their revelatory bounds?
.
Not exactly, these things were to be spiritually sealed until the messenger reveals them to the earth and the sea at the end of the age, for uniting God’s people. After all, he was seen swearing to our world, with his hand raised to Heaven. Prophet Daniel was told that a mystery of God was sealed, concerning the timing and many things of the Apocalypse, until the end of the age when knowledge would be increased as people search back and forth. It specifically covers the last 3.5. years of the Apocalypse, but the refining messenger actually comes before the two witnesses are revealed to the world and prophesy from Israel, fitting with the Revelation depiction.
The angel (i.e., messenger) cries out to the world with the Lion’s voice of authority, and seven thunders utter their voices, which means the Lion of Judah directs this extended disclosure. All this indicates that the messenger’s teaching, centered upon the little scroll of Revelation, concerns seven great ones with seven mysterious voices and messages of the Spirit. “Utter,” in the passage (lit. laleo, meaning preach/lecture), is a harangue or written extension of things already written or spoken of, in this case in the little Book of Revelation.
.
Moreover, this strongly suggests that the things that Prophet John had to seal and could not explain in the little scroll should be opened in due time and explained as extensions for unifying the elect before the Apocalypse. In his hand the book or scroll with the secret utterances is “open.” So while no person is permitted to add to the actual letter of  Revelation, changing the contents of the written book, lest he or she be accursed, a cloud of witnesses is allowed to teach and preach from the book to offer greater enlightenment to others, and the greatest enlightenment is appointed for the end of the age- by the messenger- to unite believers into one body.

The Lord sealed some things to ensure the readiness and zeal of the saints in all ages. For example: When I, the scribe, wrote of the first assembly as a message concerning Adam’s millennium, did anyone know it before it was explained? If you, the reader, did, you are indeed blessed, for I have not seen it explained in any of the churches or in any writing. Did you know of the millennial message concerning Noah, or Moses, or Jesus, or Peter, or Elijah, or of the return of the Great King? There are no mistakes in what God reveals, only appointed times for full release of revelations by, and for, His people. A cloud of witnesses shall confess them. Thus, we receive things from the spiritual world when God decides to release them, and before then we cannot open doors in which He has shut. As John the Baptist affirmed, we cannot receive anything of God except by Him.

The angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised up his hand to heaven and swore by Him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things that are in it, the earth and the things that are in it, and the sea and the things that are in it, that there should be delay no longer [time no longer], but in the days of the sounding of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, the mystery of God would be finished, as He declared to His servants the prophets. (Rev. 10:5-7) NKJV; emp. & intrpl. mine

Now we see that this messenger and the opened scroll profess that God created everything, as well as the end of His appointed times (moedim). He swears that in the days of the 7th angel, when he lives and is about to sound the last trumpet, the mystery of God will be finished. He also swears that his harangue of the Revelation scroll fits the timing that was revealed to the ancient prophets. So the messenger swears to all the nations of the seas and land of Israel, and before all the heavenly hosts, that there will be no more delay or time to solve the Great Mystery of God.
.
The urgency in the messenger swearing by God to the nations of the seas- that there will be time no longer- suggests that it will be difficult for people at the end of the age (before Messiah comes) to hear and believe a message from God that pertains to prophetic times, which is comprehensible considering all the wrong times and dates that have been given over millennia by hopeful zealots of God, and by scheming self-deceivers with a “messianic complex.”
.
Notice that the passage does not read ‘at the last vial the mystery will be complete,’ rather it is complete when the 7th Angel “is about to SOUND.” This is when the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God (see 1 Thess. 4:16). As readers of Revelation will come to discern, at the 7th trumpet the world will become the Kingdom of our God. The boundary of 12,000 years has been reached for the age and the nations of the world (6,000 since Adam and Eve), and the seventh millennial day (Day of the LORD) belongs to God and His inheriting Messiah and elect.
.
How is this possible with the vials/bowls of wrath coming after the seven trumpets/shofars of warnings? This is possible because the seven vials serve as a second witness of the Year of Recompense. First a trumpet warning is blown (i.e., prophecy), then a vial of wrath is poured out as the warning is manifest on Earth.
.
Hence, the vision is established with two witnesses and likenesses to show that it will shortly come to pass. The Lord reminds Revelation readers of this at the very beginning of the book, saying it would “shortly come to pass.” Pharaoh received warnings of seven years of a great famine that foreshadowed the Apocalypse week (see article of Joseph’s coat), and he received them in two dreams with subtle differences that expressed the same period of seven years. Moreover, when God warns of bringing great calamity, He is repetitive, and His wrath in the Year of Vengeance is the greatest calamity of all. As we continue to examine the the seven vials, we will not venture into Divine overkill, but it will become quite clear that they are indeed the same period as the seven trumpets.
.
And this dream was repeated to Pharaoh twice because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass. (Gen. 41:32) NKJV
.
In Revelation there is an underlying repetition of signs of the times. Everything has multiple witnesses, and the revelations are seen from various views. This is comparable to one star-gazer describing constellations of the night sky with his or her naked eye, and then another describing a constellation he or she sees through a telescope, adding more detail to what they explain to others. Revelation zooms in and out on the same panoramic picture of seven harsh years (after seven millennial days, as assemblies), showing one large vision with overlapping, smaller snapshots, based upon its initial summary of seven millennial days. So I raise my hand in an oath to all of creation that the seventh trumpet- the last trumpet- is when the book is complete.
.
See what I did in the paragraph above? I left the previous subject of the messenger with the book to offer an analogy with stargazers, and then I abruptly went back to it after writing about repetition, adding more revelation. I zoomed out and abruptly back into the subject, only the message of the former and the latter do not appear exactly the same; yet they are one and the same. This is how various views which appear to differ provide multiple witnesses to the Apocalypse. And this is how those who have “ears to hear” must continue to hear.
.
Then the voice which I heard from heaven spoke to me [Apostle John] again and said, “Go, take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel who stands on the sea and on the earth.” So I went to the angel and said to him, “Give me the little book.” And he said to me, “Take and eat it; and it will make your stomach bitter, but it will be sweet as honey in your mouth.” Then I took the little book out of the angel’s hand and ate it, and it was sweet as honey in my mouth. But when I had eaten it, my stomach became bitter. And he said to me, “You must prophesy again about many people, nations, tongues, and kings.” (Rev. 8:11) NKJV

Ezekiel was also told to eat a sweet tasting book as he was sent to prophesy about his people’s fate and that of Babylon (see Ezek. 3:1-4). For some believers, eating the words of the Lord brings the sweet taste of salvation and understanding, but the judgments are bitter and hard to digest. For others, the Word is unsavory from onset, for the judgments of God against the wicked are unwanted. If the eater hates Christians and Jews, it is bitter to read/consume of things concerning their glorification.

While the milk of the Word is easy to drink, the spicy meats and adult foods are more difficult for the Messianic Body to take-in. A doctor who brings news of healing and restored life shares in part with the joy of the patient’s family; but when the doctor must bring the news of death/disease, he or she, like it or not, must sample a portion of the pain, no matter how professional or indifferent the doctor seeks to be. The bitterness and sorrow may be buried deep within, but it is digested nonetheless. These are bitter/sweet truths, but a time comes when the bitterness will be forgotten for the sweetness, even as the joy of a new birth covers the tribulations of labor.

Yet how many of the elect are prepared to trouble their souls with the truths of the coming judgments? How many are willing to endure the refinement appointed for the feet as the message of time is revealed? Who will attend the true marriage of the Lamb? Will the Lord Yeshua find faith in the world when He returns?

Bitter-Sweet War, PDI
Bitter-Sweet War, PDI

The banqueting table of the Bride is already prepared in the Scriptures. The festive tables of the Moedim are furnished. The gathering is great in number, and yet the main courses are left untouched! The spicy dishes and meats grow cold. Highchairs are strewn about everywhere, and the guests are nursing bottles of baby formula! The main entrée remains covered. The children who hunger for real foods are too busy cleaning-up after toddlers and baby messes to sit and eat! Milk is overflowing from glasses everywhere onto the table, and desserts are smeared on the floors and all over the upholstery. Toddlers leave their prints in the pies, and they continuously cry for more sweets- more prosperity and personal motivation. They all want to grow, but the babes turn-up their noses to the foreign breads, the meats, and the foods that they cannot chew. The small kids whisper in one another’s ears with tales of poison in the casserole, refusing anything cooked from the refining fires of the oven- the trials and tribulations of life, the judgments of God.

Although they fight and argue over the food, throwing it at each other, they yell with one accord that they are ready for the coming of the Lord. They are ready as the mature Bride of Christ. And if you ask the children, most of them will readily tell you that they already know the Word of God; they are quick to talk and jabber what they know, but they make haste to insert their little fingers in their ears when it comes time to listen.

And these are the teachers of the Word of God? When they are finished with the mess, is there any surprise that God sends them back to the table to chew on His truths a little more? Is it any surprise the Lord must repeat Himself through His prophets, like a parent to rebellious children? Take the cake away from the big babies, for in all their years they cannot properly slice it, and they eat it while snubbing the main course.

Though John was told the mystery would be finished at the sounding of the seventh angel, his work was not yet done with its sounding. He had to prophesy again about these things, providing more witnesses and more details of the Apocalypse because the children choose to close their ears to the truths of the Holy Spirit. The book had to become part of him- both bitter and sweet, life and death, joy and sorrow. His eating of the book would lead into prophesying about many kings and nations, and this leads directly into the work of Moses and Elijah during the Apocalypse. No nation or group of united nations can stop the plans of God for His coming Kingdom, spelled out in His Word, and which nation can claim that they have not bee warned of the coming judgment?
.
Lord, let Your united Body of Believers be the messengers who are clothed in a cloud of witnesses, and let a halo of salvation confess that they have the mind of Messiah, anointed for saving. Let them shine with revelations like the Sun of Righteousness. Let their voices be as bold as the Lion of Judah when they declare these truths. Let them unite from the nations of the seas and the land of the Hebrews. Let them walk in the fire of the Spirit for the refining of the feet. Let them open the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ to the world. Let them confess that God has indeed created all things, and that the times are at hand. Let them profess the unsealed mysteries of the seven voices and share the finished mystery with the rebellious world. Let them eat the book, despite the bitterness of judgment. Lord, let them be conformed to Your image for the glory of Your works. Let them be known, for all of creation awaits the revelation of the children of God. Lord, let them be glorified in righteousness and meekness, and make them the righteous giants of the earth. Lord, let them be united in love and all truths for Your coming. Let them be Your Moses and Elijah, and let Your Spirit be as a cloak of zeal passed down to them. Let them rightly divide the waters of the Word, and grant those who follow in Your restoration to receive of Your mysteries. My Elohim YHVH, Most High, the glory of the heavens and the praise of the earth and seas, let Your rains come down when Michael stands for Israel. For who is like our God except those conformed to Your image at the sacrifice of Jesus Christ- Yeshua HaMashiach.
